Passions and Purpose

Looking at this image
temperance 001Where can you see passion and purpose?

When I looked at this card I saw the water as life, the jug as purpose ( the context for your life), and the woman as passion.

The card seems to have a strong sense of “intent.”

There is an ease and gracious quality to this card, which I find very exciting.

When we follow our passions, we have an intention,(she is focused), we give it attention (commitment and persistence)and then there is no tension.(ease, grace, flow)

When we are passionate about something, it is because it brings us joy, because that activity allows us to grow, to expand and to evolve.

Passions are how you live your life, goals are things which you achieve.

Keys to creating a passionate life: commitment, clarity, attention, keeping an open mind, integrity, persistence, follow your heart.

Some of my passions;

* Bringing joy
* Sharing quality time and moments with my family
* Sharing intimate moments with my husband
* Challenging myself and others
* Inspiring others
* Learning and exploring
* Being curious
* Teaching others
* Seeing possibilities
* New perspectives
* Paradigm shifts
* Being open and understanding in my relationships
* Having a huge and magnanimous heart
* Bridging the spiritual with everyday
* Making connections
* Showing empathy, compassion
* Expressing who I am
* Fostering cooperation
* Creating order from chaos
* Being enlightened
* Connecting with people who share my values
* Nurturing my spirit

What are you passionate about?

Pearls of Wisdom

In his book Living with Passion, Peter L. Hirsch proposes that true
accomplishment requires that we realize three things: results,
personal growth and fun.

“Too often, people focus only on results. “
But getting results without learning something or without having fun
are incomplete.  So too is having fun without getting the desired results, or having fun without learning something new to empower you in the future.
Accomplishment is all three: “the result, personal growth and having fun.”

So embrace goal setting as  a powerful tool to bring greater meaning and fulfillment to your life in every moment.

  • Invent whatever possibility you want for your life.
  • Make a clearing  for what you want to enter your life.
  • Goals can be set to eliminate what drains you.
  • Goals can be set to help energize you.
  • Goals can be set for extreme self-care.

What pearls are you willing to string on your lifeline?

“Goals are a means to an end, not the ultimate purpose of our lives.
They are simply a tool to concentrate our focus and move us in the
direction we want. The only reason we really pursue goals is to cause
ourselves to expand and grow. Achieving goals by themselves will never make us happy in the long term; it’s who you become, as you overcome the obstacles necessary to achieve your goals, that can give you the deepest and most long-lasting sense of fulfillment.”

- Anthony Robbins

Pearls vs Goals

Goals, what prevents us from setting goals?

There are a number of things that get in our way and prevent us from setting goals.

Here are a couple of ideas:

  • the outcome seems overwhelming, too much trouble, too much work, can’t be bothered.
  • Insufficient planning, not breaking the goals down into the smallest steps you can achieve
  • Insufficient knowledge, lacking the information to take basic steps
  • Not enough time, feeling over committed, drained, not enough energy
  • Unrealistic goals, setting yourself up for failure
  • procrastination, putting things off, avoiding the pain
  • feeling insecure, unsure of yourself, feeling fearful
  • limiting beliefs, believing you cannot achieve it’
  • shoulds and expectations, feeling obligated or guilty
  • perfectionism, waiting for the ideal moment – How will you know when it is perfect?
  • commitment, not willing to commit, fear of failure, not being able to keep your promise.
  • no passion

In our last session it was recommended that instead of Goals we call them Pearls.

Goals has a very weighty, burdensome, undertone.

When I broke the word apart this is what I came up with -

G-rowth,

O- opportuntities ,

A-action,

L-earning

S-kills

When I  used the word Pearls , I immediately felt a different energy:

P-assion, Presence

E-nthusiasm,

A-ction, Awareness,

R-elease (the outcome)

L-earning, Listen to intuition

S-oul, Surrender, Support,Surprise

So  pearls seem more precious, they are what you choose, what you are passionate about, enthusiastic about , your soul drives you forward, you surrender to whatever actions it takes to achieve the pearl. Your intuition guides you.  There is no effort, there is support and you are in the flow.  You set your intention and release the outcome and what it is supposed to look like.

So string your necklace with all the pearls that are dear to your heart.

Action vs Inaction

“Iron rusts from disuse; stagnant water loses its purity and in cold
weather becomes frozen; even so does inaction sap the vigor of
the mind.”

Don’t let inaction sap the vigor of your mind,  your energy and
enthusiasm.

Only when we do as we say do we achieve the results.

To heal the body first heal the mind.
Today is for observation.
Where does your mind wander naturally – into fear or fantasy, humour, or stress?
Follow your mind, and observe where it goes to feed itself.

Do you like what you see?

but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.
